ICA Group launched a pilot project in one of its retail stores, as a step in its mission to reduce its carbon emissions by 30 percent between 2006 and 2020. The target was to reduce the target was to reduce energy loss, by using energy saving technology through-out the store.
Energy-efficient automatic doors
The high-capacity, energy efficient ASSA ABLOY RD3L revolving door from ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems is key part of the solution. The door design ensures separation between internal and external environments and enhanced insulation further improves energy saving.
The doors accounted for a third of total reduction in energy consumption
In this pilot project, ICA managed to reduce energy consumption by around 35 percent, compared to a five-year- old ICA store at that time. ASSA ABLOY Entrance System's revolving doors contributed with about a third of this energy reduction.
The indoor environment also improved due to a reduction in noise and exhaust fumes from outside. The pilot project was successful and ICAs estimation was that carbon emissions could be reduced by 30 percent, by applying these energy-reducing principles in the construction of new ICA stores.
